Delaware Valley Faces Heat Wave and Severe Weather Midweek
US · Published May 18, 2026
The Delaware Valley is experiencing its first heat wave of the season, with temperatures climbing into the mid-90s°F (mid-30s°C) on Monday.
Heat indices, or 'feels-like' temperatures, are expected to approach 100°F (38°C), creating sweltering conditions across the region.
The NEXT Weather team is also monitoring the potential for severe weather later in the week, particularly on Wednesday night, when storms could develop.

Why It's Important?

The high heat and humidity pose risks of heat-related illnesses, particularly for vulnerable populations such as the elderly, children, and those with pre-existing health conditions. Outdoor workers and individuals engaging in strenuous activities should take precautions to avoid heat exhaustion or heat stroke. Additionally, the potential for severe storms midweek could bring damaging winds, heavy rainfall, and localized flooding, which may disrupt travel and outdoor plans.
